Sahej Rahal is primarily a storyteller. His performances, installations, sculptures, paintings, films and AI programs narrate an absurd mythology that interrogates the narratives shaping our present. This myth-world draws upon archaeological records, conspiracies, science fiction, and folklore, orchestrating scenarios where indeterminate beings cohabit the porous boundaries of history, myth, and memory.

Rahal’s participation in institutional, solo, and group exhibitions internationally have included ACCA, Melbourne, 2019; Vancouver Biennale, 2019; CCA Glasgow, 2017; Liverpool Biennial 2016; Kochi Muziris Biennale, 2014; and  MACRO Museum, Rome, 2014. His most recent solo exhibition took place in 2019 at Chatterjee & Lal, Mumbai.

Sahej Rahal will create a mythology that remixes folklore, urban legends, and science fiction to interrogate the mythic narratives that construct our digital reality. Specifically, Rahal aims to explore the myths of exclusion propagated through information technology. In response to this, he aims to create new rituals and myths of radical cohabitation. Through a series of cyberpunk rituals, taking place both in the physical and digital world, he will investigate the monstrous and the extra-terrestrial as a means of imagining otherwise.
